Today is our 23rd wedding anniversary. My husband and I went to see Nanny McPhee, came home and grilled steaks. (Yes, we are carnivores). All day I've been reflecting back on the day we exchanged vows and all the years in between then and now. WOW! We come so far and both have grown personally and professionally. Bill is still the love of my life and people are always amazed that we are still so very close. I tell them that marriage is like a garden; we till the soil and plant the seeds in the beginning but you just can't leave it alone. You have to water it regularly, pull weeds and keep the plants healthy until harvest. Then I started thinking about Studio Kinate and realized that there are some similarities between a marriage and building a business. In a marriage and business, there are no shortcuts to success and I forgot that. I want everything now! I want to put talented people I've come to know to work. I want to produce all these great stories, today. I want to pop everything into a machine so that Studio Kinate will pop out as the next Disney or Pixar or whatever. However, there is a reality that I have to deal with and when it comes to business, I am learning patience. I have no problem with patience when it comes to gardening (hello--farm girl!) Now now I have to put those things I've learned into practice in building this dream.
So, today I will put into practice those things I've learned both in gardening and in marriage. I will practice patience and will tend to building my studio.
Every time i hear your voice, you thoughts and your perspective and your enthusiasm, I am awed. char, the world is soon going to know the power of your dream.
